c17.8 fl oz tulip tankard by John Ingram and Charles Hunt of Bewdley, Worcestershire trading as Ingram & Hunt 1778-1807 their mark inside the base. The tankard has a plain tulip shaped body, dome lid with their distinctive solid plumed thumb piece. Their apparently unique variant form of hollow C-curve handle has a 5-lug hinge. The lid has no 'anti-wobble' ring inside. In superb condition, with light-medium grey surface patina. Capacity is 17.8 fl oz = which is either an oversize 1 pint Old English Wine Standard, or c18 fl oz, which capacity was widely used in the North Midlands and further North. 6¼” tall overall & 4½” to rim, with 3½” base diameter. 611g weight.
