Rare 18th century Dutch pewter tea caddy by an unidentified maker (?) H whose 1766 dated mark is under the base. The body with four panels of wrigglework designs comprising two repeating tulip designs – a tulip bud, and a tulip flower. The removable slip-on lid is also decorated with wrigglework. An almost identical pair are illustrated by Hornsby at Figure 537 p174 Pewter of the Western World. In excellent condition, with light-medium grey surface patina. 6” tall, with 2¾” base diameter. 196g weight. REF: C3096
