A gill Imperial Capacity bronze standard measure made by Young & Son, Bear Street, London c1840 their details to foot rim. Engraved to mid body “New South Wales”, and "Impl. Gill" (NSW legislated to have Imperial Standard measures on 24.8.1832). The British Exchequer seal (chequerboard mark) on top of rim opposite a crowned “VR” verification, and large “480”. This is the right hand measure whose matching half-gill is seen, and is also for sale. In excellent as new condition. 2⅝” tall, with 2½” rim and base diameters. 401g weight. REF: P2002
