½-pint double volute baluster measure with no maker's or verification marks. C-curve handle with ball terminal and lower lozenge attachment has a well decorated double volute thumbpiece. There is a fleur-de-lys attachment to the lid, which has two concentric incised lines. The body is plain. Dating c1770-90. Obviously made in a hurry as the casting of the fleur de lys, and the upper handle attachment show sprue. Otherwise in excellent condition, with light-medium grey original surface patina. Capacity is ½-pint Old English Wine Standard. 5” overall height, 4” to rim. 400g weight. REF: C3285
