Unusual form of ½-pint pewter mug made by Charles Bentley, London 1837-63 his pot touch struck inside base and hallmarks to left of handle. This is an early transitional body form dating c1830-40. Double scroll handle with fishtail terminal, cast and incised reeded pedestal base, body has turned band decoration that has been rubbed from wear. ½ PINT capacity label to the right of the handle, but no verification mark suggests used privately. Engraved conjoined scroll initials ‘FABK’ to mid-body. In very good used condition, with light-medium grey original surface patina. Capacity 10 fl oz. 3⅞” tall, with 3" and 2⅝” mouth and base diameters. 283g weight. REF: P303
