No maker's mark, but mutchkin capacity suggests possibly from Wigan or the North of England where made for the Scottish Borders market. The lid has a pair of incised lines at the very outer edge, and single one centrally. The prominent erect ‘bud’ thumbpiece has a stepped ‘wedge’. The heavily cast body with deeply inset base has two single incised lines. The oversize strap handle has a long strut at the lower attachment point, and spade terminal. In excellent condition, with nice turning lines under the base and good linen marks to lid and rim, and witness' mark to upper handle. Capacity is 15.1 fl oz. 6” tall and 4¾” to rim, with 3¼” base diameter. 712g weight. REF: C2313. Shown with another larger bud baluster that we also have for sale, which may be by the same maker or from the same locality
