No maker's mark, but having so many similarities to another of Scots mutchkin capacity that we also have for sale suggests possibly from Wigan or the North of England. The lid has a pair of incised lines at the very outer edge, and single one centrally. The prominent erect ‘bud’ thumbpiece has a stepped ‘wedge’. The heavily cast body with deeply inset base has two pairs of closely spaced incised lines. The strap handle has a long strut at the lower attachment point, and spade terminal. In excellent condition, with nice turning lines under the base and good linen marks to lid and rim, and witness' mark to upper handle. Capacity is 17.6 fl oz. 6½” overall height and 5¼” to rim, with 3¼” base diameter. 739g weight. REF: C2295. Shown with another smaller bud baluster that we also have for sale, which may be by the same maker or from same locality
