A good New England pewter porringer made by Gershom Jones, Providence RI 1774-1809, with his mark to centre of the flower ear (Jacobs’s #176). In good American finish showing use to inside of bowl, and some oxide shading underneath. Provenance: from the collection of the late Eugene and Marilyn Porter of Minnesota who bought the porringer in 1988 at Richard Bourne for $700. REF: P1865
