Dog nose pewter table spoon with caricature portrait possibly of a king, who may be William of Orange or George III. It lacks a maker mark, and was probably made in the UK or Europe, and Holland has been suggested. These spoons are enigmatic having a mixture of features such as the dog nose end to the handle, lace back decoration and a rat tail to the reverse of the bowl. For a similar example see Pewter of the Western World p183 Fig 583. In very good condition, with a light-medium grey original surface patina. 7¼" long. REF: P531
