Late 18th century pewter pichet of the type associated with Paris and its immediate area. Unmarked, although Charles Boucaud in his book Les pichets d'etain suggests that unmarked examples from Paris were probably made between 28.8.1794 and 4.11.1800 when the law requiring marking was suspended. Note this was made lidless, and the upper handle with its thumbrest has a different form to lidded examples. In excellent condition, with a small notch cut out of rim opposite handle probably to assist pouring. Attractive medium-light grey original surface patina. 5⅜” tall, with 2⅞” base diameter. REF: P1201
