Massive 22” diameter plain rim pewter armorial charger by John Shorey, London 1683-1722 his four hallmarks on obverse, with touchmark, secondary mark and LONDON label on reverse. An armorial device depicting a leg from thigh to foot over a torse engraved to the rim opposite the hallmarks. Large chargers like this are hard to find. In good used condition with medium-grey original surface patina, and oxide shading to face and reverse. Note the white specks on the reverse are old emulsion paint! REF: C2529
