Rare 19th century trio of small pewter pheasant mantel ornaments. As is usual with this type of ware, there is no maker mark. The Victorians seem to have developed this form of interior decoration utilising a wide variety of materials for their fireplace ornaments. Those intended for the mantle piece are generally smaller like these, and almost all are uniface as the back was never seen. Largest pheasant is 5¼" tall and 6⅝" wide. Smaller pair are 3½" tall and wide. In good used condition. REF: C3853
