Unmarked pewter pichet from Chartres with its characteristic body form and inset lid. This rare style with an erect thumbpiece predominated during the mid-18th century. Michael Schonn discusses these differences in his book Les potiers d'etain de Chartres. In excellent condition, with light-medium grey original surface patina. 5⅞” tall, with 2⅞” base diameter.
