Rare mid-18th century French pewter pichet from Chartres

Unmarked pewter pichet from Chartres with its characteristic body form and inset lid. This rare style with an erect thumbpiece predominated during the mid-18th century. Michael Schonn discusses these differences in his book Les potiers d'etain de Chartres. In excellent condition, with light-medium grey original surface patina. 5⅞” tall, with 2⅞” base diameter. This is the right hand measure in the photo of two European measures, of which the other is also for sale.  REF: C3497
