Rare mid-18th century ½-pint beaker by Robert Sadler, Newcastle-upon-Tyne c1734-78 his single hallmark used as a touch inside the base. Attractively proportioned tall beaker that is very well made and nicely detailed with elegant banded foot, and incised lines below rim and at foot, with lovely turning lines under the base. Illustrated on the Database of the Pewter Society. Provenance: formerly in the collection of J Fenton (Lot 258 Bonhams 14.1.2011). In superb condition, with medium-grey original surface patina. Capacity 9½ fl oz. 4” tall, with 3” & 2⅝” mouth and base diameters. 204g weight. REF: C3216
