Scarce ½-gallon Old English Wine Standard carafe probably by one of the Compton family of London working before 1826 their oval touchmark below a crowned X under the base. The dating relates to the capacity of this carafe, which is pre-Imperial. In very good condition, with light-medium grey original surface patina.
