An excellent example of a smaller sized high dome pewter teapot by Robert Bush, Bristol 1755-90 his mark under the base. The pear form body with cast metal handle, the double-stepped lid has a bee hive knop with original bone separator and beaded rim. This teapot probably dates from the late 18th century when pewterers began to use double stepped lids, and hollow cast pewter handles rather than the traditional wood handles. In excellent bright American finish. Provenance: from the collection of the late Eugene and Marilyn Porter of Minnesota who bought the teapot in 1985 from Garland Pass for $795. 6” tall with a 3¾” diameter rim. REF: P1865
