Small high status German pewter salt box made by Johan Georg Marx, Nuremberg 1745-72 with his touchmark under the lid. This beautifully made and finished hinge-lidded salt box is kept closed by an ornamental ‘pin’. In excellent condition, with light-grey original surface patina, and great linen marks. 3½” overall height, 4¾” across the hinges, with 3½” diameter base. REF: P1372
