Large Swiss pewter flagon made by Pier Antoni Simaval of Wallis canton c1750, his mark struck on the lid in front of the thumbpiece wedge. Ownership initials MK scratch engraved to the sides of the wedge. The twin acorn thumbpiece and upper handle showing 'witness marks' where the lid has been opened and the thumbpiece touched the handle over the centuries. The most interesting feature of this flagon is that it was cast in two halves, and has vertical seams (only visible inside), and there is a fleur de lys 'rosette' inset inside the base above and below which can be seen the linen marks left by the pewterer. In superb condition, with lustrous cleaned patina. 10½” overall height, with 4½” base diameter.  REF: P1196
