Very large Regency period unmarked pewter bulbous salt c1810-20.  Although lacking a maker mark, it was probably made in London where Thomas Dean Alderson made almost identical ones for the Coronation banquet of King George IV. The bulbous body with everted rim and raised hollow vestigial foot. Provenance: formerly in the collection of Ken Barkin. In used condition, with light-medium grey original surface patina, and oxide shading. 2¼” tall and 3½” diameter. 235g weight. This is the central one in the group photo of three salts, of which the other two are also for sale. REF: P1844
